AE/AF Lock
Too start off with I really need to understand what all the buttons on this camera DO! and since I just read my reference book (David Busch's Nikon D60) and then I figured it out on my camera, I would then solidify this learning experience by writting about it (this is the sole purpose of this blog - sorry not really much entertainment value here).
AE/AF Lock button located to the right of the view finder. If I would like the camera to autofocus on a subject and then reframe my subject without lossing its focus point I can use this handy button. It is used by half pressing the shuttle release to focus, press and hold AE/AF button while reframing the photo. You can see in the view finder than the button is pressed as it is indicated by EL in the left hand corner. As for the other ways to be AE and AF seprately...hmmm.. I need learn more about manually adjusting exposure before I use this properly. I'll come back to this another time.

A resolution with a late start.
One of my new year's resolutions for 2009 was to really get to know my camera. I have sorted out the basic usage on my own, but my lack of photographic knowledge is keeping me from doing much more than using my D60 Nikon as much more than a point-and-shoot, and this camera is simply not worthly of that kind of lesser life. I know I could do great things with it, but I've really been having trouble absorbing info from 'how-to' books. My idea with this blog is that I can make notes, up load photos and keep track of other photo sites, all much more interactive means of learning. Thanks for being my journal.
